The TD Five Boro Bike Tour is the world’s biggest recreational bike ride - drawing 32,000 participants. And there's no better way to experience the Big Apple than by bike! This joint effort of Bike New York and the New York City Department of Transportation is an incredible event. For one unforgettable day each year, the city closes roads and bridges to cars. Only cyclists are allowed. Riders bike through all five boroughs - Manhattan, The Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn, and Staten Island–on streets totally free of traffic. Join us a few days before the start. See the town (with us!) Take in a show. Ride to pick up your packet at Central Park (ride fee is included.) Then do the TD Five Boro Bike Tour - in grand Bicycle Adventures style!
Meet us at the Westin New York Grand Central. We'll take you out for a walking tour.
Meet-and-greet at the Westin Grand Central this evening. Go for a walking tour of the neighborhood and - depending on the weather - visit Rockefeller Center, the 9/11 Memorial...or a great martini bar at Grand Central Station.
Morning: bike fit, ride to Central Park and the exhibit hall for packet pick-up. Afternoon/evening: Dinner and a show!
Test out your bike this morning (we'll tweak the fit). Go for an urban adventure ride through Central Park and then south alongside the Hudson River to Battery Park. Continue onward to Riverside Drive and Bike Expo New York. Explore the expo; pick up your packets for Sundays ride of the 2014 TD Five Boro Bike Tour. Bike Expo NY is designed to emulate the city: stroll past iconic images of New York, through crosswalks and simulated bike lanes as street signs from each borough direct you through the event. Afterward, ride back through Central Park.
Ride outside the city for a spin in the urban countryside.
Pedal the bike lanes over the double-decker George Washington Bridge, a suspension bridge connecting Manhattan, New York with Fort Lee, New Jersey. A favorite weekend ride for locals, the route cruises beside the Hudson River to Palisades Park and Tallman Mountain Park - a surprising enclave of protected rugged woodlands and cliffside vistas just minutes from Manhattan. Ride north to Piermont, New York, then take New York Bicycle Route 9 back across the George Washington bridge and to the Westin. Savor one of New York's famed restaurants in anticipation of tomorrow's ride.
