Ride from Gunlock Reservoir to Snow Canyon. Overnight at the Seven Wives Inn.
Meet us in St. George, Utah. Easily accessible from Las Vegas, this quiet town was originally a cotton colony. We'll head out to Gunlock State Park, a lovely reservoir set beside a road that's part of the Old Spanish Trail. Ride from there to Snow Canyon, named after two early pioneers. No snow here! Jumbled black lava rock, towering red-and-white sandstone and crystal blue skies make for gorgeous vistas as you ride. Want more time on the bike? Continue cycling back into the town of St. George and tonight's lodging at the Seven Wives Inn.
Ride Coral Pink Sand Dunes in the morning; hike the Zion Overlook Trail in the afternoon. Tonight: stay at Zion's stunning Cable Mountain Lodge.
This morning, ride or hike in Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park, the only major sand dune field on the Colorado Plateau. In the afternoon, hike one of Zion National Park's classics: the Overlook Trail, a short and easy hike with a lot of bang for the buck. Stroll along Pine Canyon past hoodoos, wildflowers and up to a spectacular viewpoint with vistas of lower Zion Canyon's Switchbacks, the Beehives, the Temples, Towers of the Virgin and the Streaked Wall. Breathtaking!
Your choice: hike the Virgin River's Narrows slot canyon - or ride to Kolob Canyon.
This morning, conditions permitting, hike Zion's stunning Narrows - one of the most memorable places you'll ever visit on foot. This slot canyon, carved by the Virgin River, has walls reaching up to 50' and higher in places, in desert sandstone hues of orange, rose and gold. We'll provide you with 'sticky boots' and walking poles for navigating the slot canyon. This is generally a half-to-full day hike. Rather ride? Head to Kolob Canyon, a little-visited but very scenic region of Zion National Park whose earliest inhabitants were the Anasazi. Rugged red Navajo sandstone contrasts with bright wildflowers in spring and gold scrub oak in the fall. There's plenty of wildlife here! Watch for golden eagle, red-tail hawk and jackrabbits.
Hike Angels Landing, or take a final ride through the stunning canyons of Zion National Park.
This morning, we'll offer two options: hike Angel's Landing, or do another (fully supported) bike ride in Zion National Park. After lunch and a parting toast, we'll shuttle you the short distance back to St. George.
