Portland, Oregon does craft breweries the way Seattle does Starbucks. It's also hailed as one of the nation's most perfect places for cyclists. We've paired them in a brilliant celebration: the art of craft brewing plus our long tradition of bicycling the most scenic byways in the Northwest. From the idyllic Oregon Coast to the hop-vines of the Willamette Valley and the Columbia Gorge to the 25th Annual Oregon Brewer's Festival in Portland's giant Waterfront Park, it's all about the bikes and the brews!
Meet in Portland, Oregon. Ride from Jewell Elk Refuge to Astoria; tour Rogue Ales' facility.
Ride south along the coast to Seaside, with visits to McMenamins Sand Trap Pub in Gearhart and a Oswald West Beach Park, finishing at the Pelican Pub in Pacific City.
Ride inland to McMinnville; tour Heater Allen's artisan brewery and sample their handcrafted lagers.
Ride to Independence, with a stop to tour the hopvines of Rogue Farms. Then it's on to Portland for the start of the Brewfest, where you can sample more than 80 different artisan beers from the region.
Ride to McMenamins Edgefield pub in Troutdale; stay on at this eclectic poor-farm-turned-B&B/pub or head back to Portland for more of the Brewfest fun.
