    Bike Trip

The artists who lived in the high desert landscapes of Santa Fe and Taos were smitten with visions of glorious color: native dancers in full regalia, strings of flame-red chiles hung against golden adobe walls; weathered doorways decked with lilac and wisteria and hollyhock. Georgia O’Keeffe worked here; Thomas Wolfe, too, lost his heart to the brilliant ambience of the region, becoming convinced that his life’s work was to “…snare the spirits of mankind in nets of magic” through his own colorful writings.

You’ll have plenty of time to savor the culture of the area on this bicycle tour. We’ll tour the highlights of the city, including the art district, and you’ll sample some of the region’s phenomenal cuisine – from melt-in-your mouth fare to spicier creations. We’ll explore ancient cliff dwellings of the Anasazi in Bandelier National Monument, and visit Taos Pueblo, which Native Americans have called home for over a thousand years, and where they retell their legends in dance and drumsong. We’ll go rafting on the Rio Grande. And we’ll pedal, too, through the Enchanted Circle, through vistas of the Sangre de Cristo mountains, pine forests, and secluded valleys filled with cottonwoods.
