Dining

“The Duck Soup Inn…is one of the best restaurants on the island. Among its many excellent offerings were a creamy tomato and black bean soup seasoned with cumin and hot chili; “vindaloo” clams cooked in wine with garlic, tomatoes, and basil; and cilantro crusted chicken breast served with spicy blueberry chutney, a dollop of locally made goat cheese, and fresh corn pudding.”

Dinners Include: Appetizers, Salad, Soup, Entrée and Dessert Ordered from Restaurant Menu

Duck Soup Inn on Washington’s San Juan Island is just one mouth-watering example of the kind of dining you’ll find on a Bicycle Adventures tour.

The tour price includes all meals, from lunch on the first day to lunch on the last day, with the exception of some trips when one lunch and one dinner are not included, and budget tours, where two lunches and dinners are not included.

Good Breakfast Starts Day

Most breakfasts are eaten at the inn where we spend the night, and are either a set menu or a continental breakfast buffet.  Sometimes we’ll eat at a local restaurant where you order from the menu.

Lunches Nutritious and Delicious Served at Scenic Setting

Lunch is provided at a state park or similar scenic setting midway during the day’s ride.  Guests are always surprised at the variety and quality of lunches we prepare.  Besides sandwich fixings and cold drinks, we offer fresh fruits and vegetables and hot lunches such as tortellini with pesto or veggie burritos. If you prefer a certain item of food or drink, just let your tour guide know.

During the day water, fruit juices, soft drinks, energy bars, fruit, and snacks are available from the van.  A cold beer from our cooler awaits at the end of the day, and you can relive the day’s highlights at our wine and cheese party before dinner.

Dinner at Best Restaurant in Area

Dinner is eaten together at the best restaurant in the area.  At most restaurants you order what you want from the menu.  Except for alcohol, everything is included, even appetizers, salad, soup, and dessert.  If we have to shuttle everyone a short distance to get to that special place, we do it.  We like to eat well.

Guides Prepare Gourmet Meals For Campers

On camping tours all meals are included.  We prepare gourmet meals, such as frittatas for breakfast and fresh salmon for dinner.  Many guests are amazed at the presentation and quality of our cooking.  We also provide beer and wine with dinner each night on our camping tours.

Special Dietary Needs Accommodated

If you have any special dietary requests, please let us know in advance.  We regularly accommodate vegetarians and other restricted diets.  All of our meals are carefully selected to provide you with the unusually high nutritional and caloric needs of your body on an outdoor adventure.

Celebrating a Special Event?

Please let us know if you are celebrating a special event, such as a birthday or anniversary; we would like to help make it a special day.

People are talking

These trips are an excellent value — they’re not cheap, but they’re well worth the price. Everything is taken care of professionally and cheerfully from the first contact to the end of the trip. Van support is wonderful; all levels of biking are accommodated. The food and lodging are the best available in each area. I still fondly recall the salmon dinner I ate in the San Juan Islands.”

We have talked to many people about BA and what great care they take of their guests. We usually begin with the fact that you can order what you want off the menu — and the restaurants are first-rate. We also tell them that the accommodations and the best available, too. I want our friends to know that it is not some cut-rate, bare bones trip, and that they should come with us next time!”

The lunches prepared by the guides were yummy. Our guides took extra effort to buy local food, like Tillamook yogurt.”
