Who is Dan?

Dan grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota and went to college in Saint Paul (Macalester). He moved to Seattle in 1999 after getting a graduate degree in environmental education. After several years in the non-profit / public sector, Dan merged his passion for education with his spirit for entrepreneurialism by helping to launch ecotour company Evergreen Escapes, a sister company to Bicycle Adventures. Since 2014 Dan has focused on increasing standards for guides around the globe. He helped create the international Adventure Travel Guide Standard (ATGS) and currently sits on the organization’s governance board. He has conducted training for guides all around the world and does consulting for tourism destinations and companies.

Dan is a passionate traveler and outdoors person. He is an avid birder and loves to add to his bird list while guiding around the country. He has played guitar in several Seattle bands over the last 20 years, but mostly now just jams with friends. In addition to helping out on bicycle tours, he guides the annual Methow Valley Cross Country Ski tour.
