Private bicycle tours offer the best of both worlds— breathtaking destinations like the Columbia Gorge, the Sonoran desert in Arizona, and the San Juan Islands and the chance to explore them with your friends and family.
At Bicycle Adventures, we have two great options for booking private tours:
Adventure Takeovers: A private tour or “Adventure Takeover” is a pre-scheduled tour on our calendar, which your group reserves exclusively. The dates, itinerary, and pricing are as displayed on our website. Your group can be as small as 2 guests and as large as 13. For groups fewer than 6, there are per-person upcharges, while groups of 8 guests or more enjoy a discount of $200 per person. If your group exceeds 13, this is considered a custom trip and may be subject to different pricing.
Vaulted Tours: Our vaulted tours are itineraries we have run in the past but are not currently offering on our regular schedule. Vaulted tours require a minimum of 6 guests and, in some cases, 4-6 months advance notice to secure the appropriate permits. We may be able to accommodate fewer guests than 6 on a vaulted tour, with an additional per-person upcharge.
Custom Destinations: Bicycle Adventures does its best to accommodate custom destination requests but we are often limited by time. If there is a custom destination you have your heart set on, please reach out! A minimum of 8-12 months is required for a fully custom tour.

Unlike conventional group tours with fixed itineraries, private tours allow you to collaborate with us to create a unique adventure tailored to your interests and fitness levels. Whether you’re a seasoned cyclist looking for extra miles or a group that prefers earlier meals, private tours can be tweaked to fit your desires. Further customizing a private tour date might include adding or taking away certain activities or rides, changing the start date of a tour or adding or subtracting days to an existing tour. It’s important to note that customizing existing tours may incur additional costs.

Booking Considerations
While private bicycle tours offer incredible flexibility and customization, it’s essential to be aware of booking policies. Our Adventure Takeovers and vaulted tours require non-refundable deposits but also offer flexibility through our standard transfer policy.
For a private tour, select any date on our calendar and reserve it exclusively for your group by making a non-refundable deposit of $600 per person from a minimum of 6 guests. Members of your group can still transfer their deposit to a different tour based on our cancellation and transfer policy. Group discounts are based on the number of travelers who take the trip, so if cancellations cause your group to fall below 8 guests, the standard group discount will be removed.
