Q & A

Q.

What was your first bike?

A.

I don't remember my first bike, besides it being a fun one to cruise the neighborhood on! I do remember getting my first hardtail (and, later, full suspension) and falling in love with the world of mountain biking in Bellingham. While living in central Washington, I had a speedy carbon Trek Checkpoint and would go for hours on the empty country roads. Now, I have a Kona Sutra, a solid steel gravel wonder that's taken me thousands of miles.

Q.

Favorite book?

A.

My favorite question! I love to read, and can't just pick one singular favorite book. I love the strange, humorous whimsy of Tom Robbins, the scientific thrillers of Michael Crichton, the epic poem of Hyperion and Fall of Hyperion, the Dune series, the mysteries of Agatha Christie, and lots of travelogues and adventure stories... ask me in person :)

Q.

Cycle hero?

A.

Barbara Savage, who cycled around the world with her husband Larry in the 1970's, calling embassies to ask if they had paved roads because the only information sources she could find were photos in National Geographic. 23,000 miles and over 25 countries in two years. Her book, Miles from Nowhere, is fantastic!

Q.

If I had a Super Power:

A.

I'd have an internal translator in my ear and be able to pick up new languages almost instantly!

Q.

Where will you find me when I’m not working/guiding:

A.

I'm an avid skateboarder, so you'll likely see me outside in a park skating. If it's too hot, wet, cold, or late, I'll be inside doing art- which I do for fun and for work! I'm also a student, so (unfortunately) you might find me doing homework during the school year.
